Volunteer Mentors Needed

As a retired Army Officer I have seen many junior leaders, both Officer and NCO that were for a lack of a better term, “discarded” because they did not meet the standards of the one in charge.  How many good leaders did we get rid of, when what they might have needed at that moment was someone to develop them.  I can point to some key times in my career where a senior officer pulled me aside to tell me what I needed to do differently or how I could do something better.  These were the mentors that gave me just enogh direction to keep me out of trouble and on the road to advancement.  And yet some never get there for lack of that direction.  I would like to challenge all you leaders out there to find some young officer, NCO, businessman or businesswoman, manager, etc and take it upon yourself to guide them to get better.  you might find it quite fulfilling.  Ken
